DENVER -- The New York Mets unleashed a power display, hitting six home runs en route to a dominant 13-5 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Sunday afternoon. This win completed a second sweep of the major league-worst Rockies within a week for the surging Mets.
Pete Alonso and Jeff McNeil each blasted two home runs, leading the Mets' offensive onslaught at Coors Field. Brett Baty and Francisco Alvarez also contributed with long balls as New York finished their road trip with a 5-2 record and maintained a perfect 6-0 record against Colorado (12-53) this season.
The victory pushed the Mets to a season-best 42-24, placing them 18 games over the .500 mark and extending their lead in the NL East to 4 1/2 games over struggling Philadelphia.
