The Los Angeles Dodgers rediscovered their offense in a convincing 12-6 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals at Dodger Stadium. The win marked a strong rebound from previous struggles, with standout performances from Max Muncy and Teoscar Hernandez, who each launched two home runs.
Max Muncy showcased his power after returning from a month-long absence due to a bone bruise. He went 4 for 5 at the plate, driving in four runs and scoring three times. His first home run, a 416-foot blast, came off Cardinals starter Miles Mikolas. Muncy added a second home run in the third inning, sending the ball 404 feet and electrifying the home crowd.
Teoscar Hernandez matched Muncy’s efforts, also going 4 for 5 with four RBI and two runs scored. The Dodgers (66-48) jumped out early, collecting three extra-base hits in the first inning—matching the number of hits they posted in their last meeting against St. Louis. In total, the Dodgers racked up an impressive 17 hits on the night.
Mookie Betts was another key contributor, breaking out of a slump by recording three hits, a double, and a walk. Shohei Ohtani added two hits and scored three times, continuing to be a catalyst at the top of the lineup.
Cardinals starter Miles Mikolas (6-9) endured a tough night, surrendering five earned runs in just three innings before exiting. The St. Louis bullpen failed to stem the tide, giving up an additional six earned runs across the remainder of the game.
Nolan Gorman provided a highlight for the Cardinals with a two-run homer in the second inning, but it was not enough to spark a bigger rally for St. Louis.
On the mound for Los Angeles, Emmet Sheehan (3-2) impressed as part of the Dodgers’ new six-man rotation. Sheehan allowed only four hits and no runs in five solid innings, striking out five and walking one. His performance set the tone for the Dodgers and kept the Cardinals in check as the offense piled on the runs.
The turning point came in the third inning when Muncy and Hernandez hit back-to-back home runs, pushing the Dodgers to a 5-2 lead. It was the first instance of consecutive homers by Dodgers players since Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts achieved the feat against Arizona earlier in the season.
Mookie Betts snapped a 0-for-22 hitless streak with his third-inning double. He finished the game with three hits and helped reignite the Dodgers’ offense.
The Cardinals are set to send left-hander Matthew Liberatore (6-9, 3.96 ERA) to the mound for the series finale on Wednesday afternoon. The Dodgers will counter with right-hander Shohei Ohtani (0-0, 2.40 ERA), who will make his eighth appearance of the season.
The Los Angeles Dodgers broke out of their offensive slump in a dominant 12-6 win over the St. Louis Cardinals, powered by multi-homer games from Max Muncy and Teoscar Hernandez. The Dodgers piled up 17 hits, including strong contributions from Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani. Starter Emmet Sheehan tossed five scoreless innings, setting up the win. With this victory, the Dodgers move forward with momentum as the Cardinals prepare for another tough matchup in the series finale.
