HOUSTON — Miguel Andujar and Shea Langeliers homered in the first inning, J.T. Ginn threw six shutout innings, and the Athletics defeated the Houston Astros 7-1 on Sunday, completing a four-game series sweep.
Andujar, starting in the leadoff spot for the first time in his nine-year career, launched a home run on Colton Gordon's fifth pitch. Later in the inning, with two outs, Langeliers sent a 3-0 fastball over the left field train tracks for his 17th home run of the season.
Langeliers extended his home run streak to three straight games, a career first. He finished the game 2 for 4 with two runs scored.
Ginn (2-2) was dominant, limiting the Astros to just three hits over his longest start of the season. He struck out four batters without issuing a walk.
Colby Thomas contributed with a double, going 1 for 2, and recorded the first RBI of his major league career.
Nick Kurtz, who two days prior made major league history by hitting four home runs in a single game as a rookie, was given the day off. He is currently batting .549 during an impressive 13-game hitting streak.
For the Astros, Colton Gordon (4-3) allowed four runs on six hits over five innings, striking out six.
The Athletics' four-game winning streak and the Astros' four-game losing streak both represent season-highs for their respective teams.

The Athletics will return home to open a three-game series against the Seattle Mariners on Monday night. LHP JP Sears (7-8, 4.98 ERA) is scheduled to start for the A's, facing off against RHP Luis Castillo (7-6, 3.30) for Seattle.
The Astros will also begin a three-game home series on Monday night, hosting the Washington Nationals. LHP Framber Valdez (11-4, 2.67) is slated to pitch for Houston, opposing RHP Brad Lord (2-5, 3.39) for Washington.
